Exclusive Interview #2 | Ponlok Chomnes Provincial Policy Forum 2026

We are pleased to release this exclusive interview series from the Ponlok Chomnes Provincial Policy Forum 2026. In our Exclusive Interview #2, Ms. Dim Sokthida, Paklong Commune Council Member from Koh Kong Province, shares her valuable insights and experiences with the forum.

In response to question, “From a commune-level perspective, what are the main challenges and opportunities in involving community voices and local evidence when making decisions that affect people’s daily lives?”, Ms. Dim Sokthida highlights the challenges commune officials face when residents are busy with work or hesitant to participate. She explains how critical the role of the village head is in bridging the gap—acting as a trusted mediator to facilitate interviews and photos that are essential for official documentation.

Furthermore, she mentioned the sensitivity required when engaging with vulnerable groups, including individuals with disabilities. By working closely with family members to smooth over misunderstandings, the commune ensures that these households can successfully access vital government support, such as social equity packages, school scholarships, and disability allowances. This reflects the Forum’s dedication to inclusive dialogue and practical solutions for Cambodia’s communities.
