Background

The National University of Management (NUM) is a leading public institution of higher education located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. NUM has two campuses, namely Wat Phnom Campus (since 1983) and Veal Sbov International Campus (since 2024). Established originally as the Economic Science Institute in 1983, it has undergone significant transformation over the decades to become a premier university specialising in management, business, economics, finance, accounting, banking, law, policy, administration, information technology, digital economy, robotics and other fields. NUM is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and fostering the next generation of leaders in Cambodia and the region.

Main Activities

NUM offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university is dedicated to developing innovative curricula and conducting research that addresses both local and global challenges. Its main activities include:

Partnership with Ponlok Chomnes

The National University of Management has established a strategic partnership with Ponlok Chomnes, an initiative focused on strengthening knowledge sector development in Cambodia. Through this collaboration, NUM and Ponlok Chomnes work together to support research, policy
dialogue, and capacity building, particularly in areas related to evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development. Key major activities with Ponlok Chomnes include:

  • 2022-2023​: Research Grant with Research Report: Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Teacher Trainees and Students: The Case of the National Institute for Special Education (NISE) and Five High Schools for Special Education in Cambodia
  • 2025-2026: Research Grant on Curriculum Design Research and Policy Youth Forum (In progress)
