Background:

Climate change poses a significant challenge to Cambodia’s socio-economic development and environmental sustainability. Its impacts can be seen in various sectors, from agriculture and water resources to health and infrastructure. Given the importance and urgency of addressing climate change, there is a need for diverse sectors, including research centers and NGOs, to understand its implications and integrate climate change considerations into their ongoing research and policy work.

Objectives:

  • Brief research centers and NGOs about the relevance and implications of climate change in the Cambodian context.
  • Introduce the main policies addressing climate change in Cambodia.
  • Discuss potential considerations of the intersections between climate change and their ongoing research and policy initiatives.

Expected Outcomes:

  • By the end of the orientation, participants will have a comprehensive basic understanding of the implications of climate change in Cambodia.
  • Recognize the importance of addressing climate change in their respective fields.
  • Identify potential areas within their ongoing research and policy work where climate change considerations can be integrated.
