Legal framework on Economic Land Concessions (ELCs)
MAFF and the MoE issued a joint Prakas on “Strengthening Management of ELCs” and agreed to set rental fees based on the size of cleared land permitted by both ministries. In 2014, there are 121 companies have signed agreement with MAFF covering 2 126 748 hectares of land. However, the licenses have been revoked from 69 companies which did not follow the agreement and taken back 587 580 hectares.
