The Ponlok Chomnes program, in collaboration with the GEDSI Consortium, hosted a two-day training workshop on “Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion” from 14-15 February 2024. The objective of the training was to equip colleagues from the Strategic Partners on the concepts and relevant policies/laws related to gender equality and disability inclusion, language use and reflection on personal attitudes, perceptions, and beliefs about gender and disability in their daily lives and work experiences.

Expected outcomes included:

  • Participants increased their understanding of the differences between sex and gender and intersectionality concepts.
  • Participants were better aware of social norms, gender identity, and how stereotypes influence perceptions.
  • Participants gained insights about barriers faced by people with disabilities, relevant legal frameworks, and organizational strategies for addressing these challenges.
  • Participants were better informed of effective communication strategies, the importance of respectful language, a rights-based approach to inclusion, and designing and implementing disability-inclusive projects.

Thanks to our GEDSI Consortium which consists of Cambodian Disabled People’s Organisation (CDPO), Gender and Development in Cambodia (GADC) and Women Peace Makers (WPM) for facilitating the training workshop.
