Empowering Indigenous Voices: Climate Resilience and Sustainable Land Rights at CCCS 2024
The discussion on Climate Resilience and Indigenous Land Rights at this year’s Cambodia Climate Change Summit (CCCS) 2024 on 24 October at Sihanoukville! Dr. Lonn Pichdara, Executive Director of My Village Organization (MVi), joined the panel that explored:
Key Discussion Points:
➡️ How partnerships can support indigenous communities in sustainable land management
➡️ Strengthening traditional agricultural systems to address climate change
➡️ Conservation projects like the Wildlife Friendship Agriculture Project and ecotourism to improve livelihoods
The discussion also highlighted the crucial collaboration between civil society and local authorities in addressing climate change through a commune budget plan.
MVi is conducting research on the “Analysis of commune budget allocation for climate change and its impacts on marginalised communities: Case studies of commune administrations in Stung Treng Province” through the Ponlok Chomnes Innovation Fund, which is funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian Embassy, Cambodia) and through The Asia Foundation‘s Ponlok Chomnes: Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia program.
