Over the past six months, My Village Organization (MVi), local authorities and communities in O’Mreas Commune, Stung Treng Province, have been working together on a project “Translating Commitment into Action: Inclusive Climate-Resilient Investment in O’Mreas Commune” to ensure that climate resilience investments respond to the needs of those most at risk.
A key milestone was the community consultations that brought together women, youth, indigenous people, and other community representatives to identify priorities for the Commune Investment Plan. Through this dialogue, community members highlighted practical solutions to strengthen resilience, including climate-smart agriculture, improved access to clean water, and inclusive sanitation facilities for persons with disabilities.
Importantly, these discussions did not stop at planning level. Building on community priorities, the O’Mreas Commune Administration took action by allocating local resources to support the dissemination of fisheries laws among vulnerable groups, actively engaging women, elders, and persons with disabilities.
This journey from community dialogue to local investment demonstrates how inclusive decision-making can translate commitments into meaningful action and help build climate-resilient communities that leave no one behind.
🌟 The Ponlok Chomnes Innovation Fund supports local initiatives by addressing specific local issues through collaboration between civil society organisations and local authorities to promote inclusive and meaningful community’s participations.
This project is supported by the Australian Government through Ponlok Chomnes II: Data and Dialogue for Development in Cambodia program and implemented by The Asia Foundation.
