Forestry

a. Forest Preservation: MAFF has completed 160 km border demarcation of preserved forest.
b. Community Forestry: In 2014, MAFF has announced the establishment and management of 19 forestry community covering 21 024 hectares located in Steung Treng, Kratie, Kampong Thom, and Rattanakiri.
c. Forest and wildlife conservation: MAFF has conserved 16 280 hectares of forest to protect natural resources and biodiversity and 66 932 hectares for plant genetic resources conservation. 97 species of wildlife have been conserved (1224 animals).
d. Illegal logging: The import of chainsaws into Cambodia is banned after an official call for a nationwide crackdown on the illegal logging trade. MAFF urged the Forestry Administration to curb the availability of chainsaws in rural areas. A nationwide crackdown on illegal loggers will be launched in the near future.
