Policy Brief on “The Impacts of COVID-19 on Students with Disabilities: The Case of Hard of Hearing and Visually Impaired Teacher Trainees at the National Institute of Special Education (NISE) and Students at Five High Schools for Special Education in Cambodia”

The Asia Foundation’s Ponlok Chomnes Program is delighted to release the policy brief on “The Impacts of COVID-19 on Students with Disabilities: The Case of Hard of Hearing and Visually Impaired Teacher Trainees at the National Institute of Special Education (NISE) and Students at Five High Schools for Special Education in Cambodia”, conducted by National University of Management (NUM) Research Center. This research seeks to review current Cambodia’s laws and policies related to the rights of persons with disabilities, in particular the right to education; to review legal frameworks and/or interventions related to the rights to education of persons with disabilities in selected foreign countries in ASEAN, Australia, etc. in the Covid-19 period; to examine the responses of the government of Cambodia in promoting the rights to education of people with disabilities during the Covid-19 era; to explore the impacts of Covid-19 on persons with disabilities, especially those in special education in Cambodia; and to propose recommendations to support persons with disabilities in future crises.
